
Family Lawyer
I a family law barrister specialising in the financial aspects of family relationship breakdown, particularly in high–value, complex and international cases. I have written a number of books and articles (see here for examples).
I act in cases throughout England and Wales, instructed by both by solicitors and by clients directly. My advice is also frequently sought on international jurisdiction and enforcement issues by lawyers and individuals based overseas.
I am known for my in depth knowledge of the law, down to earth approachable manner and my ability to find creative solutions to the most difficult problems. I am ranked in Chambers & Partners as a leader in my field. I have been elected as a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. My practice straddles the areas of family law and trusts/chancery law and so I am a member of both the Family Law Bar Association and of the Chancery Bar Association.
As well as working as a lawyer advising and representing individuals going through divorce and separation I also act in an independent capacity to assist them resolve their disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution ('ADR'). Please see my Dispute Resolution page for more details.

- Financial remedies upon divorce or upon dissolution of civil partnership – especially experienced in cases involving:
- Property disputes between cohabitees or other family members.
- Pre–nuptial and other marital agreements - drafting, negotiating or advising on the implications of such an agreement.
- Living Together / Cohabitation agreements
- Financial provision for children under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989.
- Advice on child support and representation at child support tribunals.
- Claims against estates under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants Act) 1975.
- Disputes over the administration of estates and probate.
- Disputes over international jurisdiction and forum non conveniens in all the above areas.
- Serious private law proceedings over children and international child abduction.
- Alternative Dispute Resolution: arbitration, mediation, private–FDRs/neutral evaluation.
